Shopify Inc announced an equity partnership deal with Malaysia-based logistics and technology solutions company GDEX Berhad, a leading global commerce technology company. The strategic partnership is expected to improve online retail businesses within Malaysia by offering a scale of tools to streamline business operations and also increase market reach.
The formal partnership was put in place at a signing ceremony hosted at the Grand Millennium Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Senior guests, including Eric Pelletier, Counsellor (Trade) and Senior Trade Commissioner at the High Commission of Canada in Kuala Lumpur and Naneecharam Muniandy, Trade Commissioner at the same office, attended the affair.

GDEX Berhad, which started as a courier and logistics service provider, has evolved its offerings to include cloud-based point-of-sale systems, enterprise software, cybersecurity solutions, and IT support through its subsidiaries. Teong Teck Lean, Managing Director and Group CEO of GDEX, highlighted that the partnership with Shopify would deliver best-in-class solutions, creating significant value for businesses in the region.
The signing ceremony followed a panel discussion at the “GDEXchange: Unifying Commerce in ASEAN” event, where industry experts discussed strategies for enhancing cross-border commerce and fostering business growth in Southeast Asia.
