A prominent industry figure has stated that Malaysian businesses are taking full advantage of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) and thus the global market has more room for expansion. Ng Yih Pyng, President of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), spoke on the importance of the CIIE and termed it an important event for trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Ng was speaking in an interview with Xinhua, where the scope for the Malaysian corporations venturing into the country’s consumer base and the worldwide market at large was promoted. He was aware of the CIIE which will take place in Shanghai from November 5th to 10th and remarked that such activities are very helpful especially for young business people to seek out new markets and new contacts. “The CIIE continues to unlock opportunities for Malaysian businesses. It’s a platform where companies can broaden their horizons and engage themselves with the exhibitors and the global delegations,” Ng Said.
For this year’s delegation, ACCCIM brings in 18 participating Malaysian companies that display various goods including coffee, bird’s nest, durians, and many others in 31 booths. The still expanding delegation, reaching up to two hundred and fifty members, aims to penetrate into the People’s Republic of China market on the occasion of the fiftieth year of diplomatic ties that exist between Malaysia and China. Ng expressed optimism that the trade fair will further strengthen the bilateral trade and economic relations and increase interaction with other sectors like electronics, electric cars, renewable energy; health care, agriculture and so on.
Contributing to the CIIE as one of the guest countries of honor, Malaysia is set to promote more of its economic business with China and in particular Ng indicated how Chinas market has a strong buying power. He also praised the initiatives taken by the Chinese government regarding the formation of policies to develop high-tech industries and to increase the domestic demand, which also shows potential for working together in other areas as well.
Ng’s zeal for swinging on board the CIIE proved its usefulness as a channel for Malaysian entrepreneurs looking far and beyond the southern seas with China being an important economic player in that matrix.
