On Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), users reported a change in the display of news links and headlines on certain posts. Instead of showing headlines and links, posts now display graphics of individual news articles, causing confusion among users. Musk had confirmed earlier this month that X was considering this change to “greatly improve the aesthetics.” An X spokesperson mentioned that Musk is investigating whether the removal of headlines and links is part of a broader rollout.
Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, appointed by Musk in June, clarified that Musk oversees product and feature development while she handles business and operational matters. Yaccarino has been working on regaining advertisers for the platform, while Musk envisions turning X into an app with expanded capabilities, including payments.
On the same day, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) announced that it would resume advertising on X after a temporary pause. The civil rights nonprofit had recommended advertisers pause campaigns in November due to a wave of hateful posts on X. Musk attributed a significant drop in ad revenue to the ADL’s recommendation and had even threatened a lawsuit. The ADL clarified that it did not orchestrate a boycott of X or cause substantial losses to the company. While appreciating X’s stated intent to address antisemitism and hate, the ADL emphasized that more needs to be done on the platform.
